Friday – Anchors Aweigh: A Garden Soiree – Head to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for Anchors Aweigh, a special evening with beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres, music and dancing. Featuring beer from Center of the Universe Brewing with hops grown in the garden and the music of yacht-rock band Three Sheets to the Wind. Saturday – Jammin’ on the James – The free summer concert series, Jammin’ on the James, kicks off with a free performance from singer-songwriter and former Richmonder Lara Ruggles. Bring a picnic dinner and blanket to enjoy the performance. Take in a free tour of Wilton House, plus free children’s activities such as face-painting and period games. 6 p.m.-8 p.m. 215 S. Sunday – SPARC’s Live Art: Dream – Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty will be joining former Richmonder Jason Mraz, as well as Grammy winner Colbie Caillat, American Idol’s Rayvon Owen and Paul Williams, who wrote “Rainbow Connection” and “We’ve Only Just Begun.” Local artists and performers such as Desirée Roots, Susan Greenbaum, Steve Bassett, Daniel Clarke, Samson Trinh, David Fisk, the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra String Ensemble, Host of Sparrows, City Dance Theatre, City Singers Youth Choirs, and the Henrico High School Sound Sensations Choir will take the stage, as well as students with and without disabilities from SPARC’s performing arts program.
