Friday – Friday Cheers – If you like Modest Mouse and the Kings of Leon, check out Rainbow Kitten Surprise, a five-member band from Boone, N.C., at Friday Cheers. Saturday – Peace Love RVA Yoga Festival – First annual yoga festival on Brown’s Island. If you’ve always wanted to try yoga or are a bonafide yoga-regular, this one is for you. There will be free classes and workshops all day long from Richmond instructors, plus yoga for kids, music, vegetarian food for sale, health and wellness vendors and a group effort to make a giant world peace sign. Saturday – Dig into BBQ, listen to bluegrass from Cary Street Ramblers and watch the Richmond Kickers take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Cultured Swine will be serving up North Carolina style BBQ, Jamaican jerk chicken and vegetarian options. There will be 15 craft beers on tap and entry include two beer tickets. Party starts at 5:30 p.m., game at 7:30 p.m. $22.
Sunday – RVA Bacon Festival – Have no fear, the RVA Bacon Festival will still go on, despite construction at the 17th Street Farmers Market. Over 40 Richmond restaurants will be dishing up bacon dishes for just $4 per plate. Fat Dragon is doing shrimp and bacon ramen, Gregory’s Grill will be serving up fried oysters with bacon, and Granny’s ice cream is doing a bacon sundae, just to name a few. Craft beer for sale from Devils Backbone Brewery Company and music from Dance Candy. Noon-5 p.m. Held a temporary location at 1615 East Broad Street, one block from the 17th Street Farmers Market. $1 suggested donation.
