Through Monday – Last weekend for Flying Squirrels – It’s the last homestand for the Flying Squirrels. The home team wraps up the summer with a literal bang (but of course) with fireworks and $5 burgers on Thursday, free T-shirts on Friday, fireworks on Saturday and Sunday, and a final day-time game on Monday. Sunday – Pocahontas Premieres : Richmond Jazz Band – Say goodbye to summer with a free concert in Pocahontas State Park. Richmond Jazz Band, a 20-piece ensemble, will plays jazz standards, big band tunes and more. The band is an off-shoot of the popular Richmond Concert Band. 7 p.m. (gates at 6 p.m.) at Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Drive, Chesterfield.

Sunday – Open Studio Sunday – Stop by the VMFA’s Art Education Center for a free hands-on art activity for your little one. This month the museum is celebrating the opening of the interactive teaching gallery, Dig It!, in the Art Education Center. Kids can make their own clay figures and paper dragons. 1-4 p.m. Free.
