Friday, Oct. 13-Sunday, Oct. 15 – Richmond Folk Festival – Who are we kidding? This weekend is all about the Richmond Folk Festival. Three days of free music on seven stages around Richmond’s riverfront. Expect all kinds of music from around the world – from zydeco and flamenco to honky tonk and bluegrass –in a truly exceptional setting. A few standouts we recommend: bluegrass superstar Dale Ann Bradley, Japanese taiko drumming, a step team competition , C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band and many more. Saturday, Oct. 14 – VMFA Family Day: Celebrate Native American Art – For the first time, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is hosting a Family Day in honor of Native American art. Inspired by the exhibition “Hear My Voice: Native American Art of the Past & Present” currently on view, this family-friendly festival will feature Native American performances and demonstrations by artists Molly Murphy Adams, Virgil Ortiz, and Jeremy Frey. Kids can try their hand at basket-weaving and pottery. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 N. Boulevard. Free.

Saturday, Oct. 14 – Foo Fighters – The Foo Fighters are coming back to Richmond for the first time since playing a famously crowd-funded show at The National in 2014. This time, they’re back to play a slightly larger venue at The Coliseum in support of their new album “Concrete and Gold.” Doors at 6 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. Richmond Coliseum, 601 East Leigh St.

Sunday, Oct. 15 – Kickn’ Chicken Wing Fest – Fall festival featuring chicken wings and beer. With music from Roxbury, wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and others, the Redskins vs. San Francisco 49s on the big screen, and the Thomas Jefferson High School marching band kicking off the final round of the Kickn’ Chicken Wing eating competition. Noon-5 p.m. $1 suggested donation. Temporary location while 17th Street Farmers’ Market is under construction at 1615 E. Broad Street.
