Opens Friday – “Going Places” at Science Museum of Virginia – New exhibit opening at the Science Museum of Virginia where kids can try a hovercraft, hop on a helicopter-shaped flight simulator, fly a blimp, sail a land yacht, compete on recumbent racer, and more. 20 interactive transportation experiences in all. Opens Friday through August 19. Included in museum admission.
Saturday – Superchunk – Indie band from Chapel Hill that made it big in the ‘90s put their rage and anxiety over the 2016 election to work in their most recent album “What a Time to Be Alive.” At the Broadberry. 8 p.m. $16 in advance, $20 day of show.
Saturday – Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration – If you missed the big ChinaFest at the VMFA, stop by the Children’s Museum of Richmond for a smaller celebration (although it still regularly draws a crowd). Featuring the lion dance, traditional and modern Chinese music and dance, hands-on activities and more, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $8-$9.
