Friday – Science After Dark: Glow – Check out the Science Museum of Virginia after dark for its popular Glow event. Bring the whole family to make glow-in-the dark art, write with light on the GLOW wall, see fire spinners and explore the new Forge hands-on makers area. Head to the Dome for a live Cosmic Expedition exploration, followed by a screening of “Frankenweenie,” and stargazing through telescopes on the lawn with the Richmond Astronomical Society (weather permitting). 5-9 p.m. at 2500 W. Broad St. $10; $5 for each Dome feature; free exhibit admission for members.
Saturday – Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival – The Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival shuts down the Boulevard for a street party with food, beer and live music. Featuring a mix of fall-themed small plates from Scott’s Addition restaurants and concession fare plus plenty of fall-themed beer from Scott’s Addition breweries. The kids zone has been greatly expanded this year, including a pumpkin train that will weave through the area. Wear your Halloween costume to participate in the adult or kid costume contest. Even pets can get in on the costume action with a pet costume competition. Noon-6 p.m. on the Boulevard between West Leigh and West Broad streets. Free entry; pay as you go.
Saturday – Beer & Oyster Block Party at Union Market – If you’re in the mood for an oyster roast, make your way Union Market in Union Hill. There will be raw and roasted oysters from Big Island Aquaculture, paella, backdoor brats, beer and wine, and live music from One Job, Andrew Alli & Josh Small, and the Heart Stompers. 2-10 p.m. at 2306 Jefferson Ave. Free; pay as you go.
Sunday – The Wailers – Bob Marley’s legendary band The Wailers visits Richmond, led by bassist and founder Aston “Familyman” Barrett, original Wailers’ guitarists Junior Marvin and Donald Kinsey, and lead singer Josh Barrett. 7:30 p.m. at The National, 708 E. Broad St. $19.50-$23.
