Friday – The Piano Guys

The YouTube sensation is now a touring sensation with Jon Schmidt on the piano and Steven Sharp Nelson on the cello. Friday-Sunday – Red Carpet at Ashland Theatre

The Ashland Theatre may have officially reopened in late December, but this weekend, it’s hosting special events leading up to the Oscars. At 7 p.m. Friday, filmmaker and Ashland native Matt Green will speak before a screening of his documentary “The World Before Your Feet,” for which Oscar-nominee Jesse Eisenberg was executive producer. Catch Oscar-nominated short films Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday – Shiver in the River

Who’s ready to take a winter plunge in the James River … for a good cause? Shiver in the River starts with a river cleanup, followed by a 5K walk or run, topped off with a jump in the James River. Warm up afterward with a bona fide winter festival under heated tents, with music from Craig’s List Jerry and MOZO, food trucks, and craft beer for sale. Sunday – Disney Jr. Dance Party

A high-energy live show brings Disney Jr. characters from “Puppy Dog Pals,” “Sofia the First,” “Doc McStuffins” and “Vampirina” to the stage where they’ll sing and dance to some of their biggest hits. The crowd can get in on the singing and dancing, too. Expect to see old favorites Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy as well. 3:30 p.m. at Altria Theater, 6 N.
