Friday – Sunday – Southern Women’s Show

Check out new fashion, food and beauty trends at the Southern Women’s Show. A few highlights: “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks will perform 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday, celebrity chefs will take to the Food Lion Kitchen Stage to prepare fresh new recipes you can sample, and Savannah Chrisley of the USA TV show “Growing Up Chrisley” will visit. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Richmond Raceway Complex, 600 E. Laburnum Ave. $6-$12.

Saturday and Sunday – Irish Festival

Traditionally held the weekend after St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish Festival is a rousing two-day street party in Church Hill complete with live music, Irish dancers, corned beef and cabbage home-cooked by the ladies of St. Patrick’s, fish ’n’ chips from Rare Olde Times and plenty of Guinness. Plus a kids play area, craft and jewelry vendors, face-painting and more. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at North 25th and East Broad streets. $5 suggested donation.

Saturday and Sunday – Time Travelers Weekend

If you’ve been aiming to hit up local museums and historic sites such as the Valentine, Maymont, Agecroft Hall and others, this weekend is a great time to do it. Because for Time Travelers Weekend, roughly 20 venues will offer free admission and special activities. Go to for a full list of participating sites. Times and locations vary. Saturday and Sunday – Richmond Brunch Weekend

Go out to brunch this weekend and help raise money for cancer research. Over 40 participating restaurants, including Tazza Kitchen, Maple & Pine and Southbound, will donate 15 percent of your brunch bill to VCU Massey Cancer Center. Now in its fourth year, the event has already raised $55,000 for cancer research. Just show up to a participating restaurant and order brunch. Go to for a list of eateries.
